City Council takes first step toward redevelopment district creation.
Maricopa, Ariz. (September 19, 2008) – The Maricopa City Council has taken the first step necessary in the creation of a Redevelopment District and Plan by passing Resolution 08-48a.
A Redevelopment District is an area designated by the City Council as being in need of revitalization. It is not a quick change or fix up of the area designated, but encourages and aids development and partnerships for improving the area. The Redevelopment Plan lays out broad goals and guidelines for the area, in accordance to State Statute. The plan's creation process will include public participation and will involve the hiring of a consulting firm to execute the plan development process. The City is currently soliciting bids for consultant services through RFP. It is anticipated that a consultant will be selected within the next 45 days with public input sessions to begin in November, and ultimate plan completion in Spring of 2009.
