Upcoming Projects

Maricopa’s residents are interested in spending their off-time enjoying the City they live in. They have requested local large-scale retail and community entertainment, and Maricopa is delivering. Numerous retail developments are bringing big box as well as niche developments into the area. The City is making great strides as well, with the opening of its first City park and an aggressive schedule of classes, programs, and sports designed to involve local residents in healthy activities that strengthen community ties.


The Wells by Shea Properties: Under Construction

A 630,000 square–foot commercial retail development by Shea Properties has begun construction and ground has been broken on its major anchor, Walmart. Located off the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway less than two miles from John Wayne Parkway, this center will incorporate complimentary big box retail, a hotel, multi-family residential units, and office space. Wal Mart is anticipated to open its doors in early 2009.


Maricopa Grand Professional Village, by UTAZ: Under Construction

At the northwest corner of Smith Enke and Porter Road, this development will include the City’s first brick-and-mortar library facility which is currently under construction. The remainder of the center will include office and medical suites.


Sonoran Creek by Sonoran Creek, LLC: Building Plans in Review

Sonoran Creek, located at the southwest corner of Edison Road and John Wayne Parkway, will be anchored by a Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market Center.


Maricopa Station: Building Plans in Review

125,000 square feet of retail space will be located on the northeast corner of Smith Enke Road and John Wayne Parkway, behind the existing CVS Pharmacy.


Maricopa Marketplace II: Construction estimated to begin by first quarter 2009.

A 105,000 square foot development is planned for construction on the northeast corner of John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road, and has already secured tenants such as Arizona Federal Credit Union and Ruby Tuesday’s.


Stonegate Center by Interra Maricopa: Site plan review approved

Located directly to the west of The Wells, this center will incorporate big box retail developments as well as other retail, restaurant, and entertainment amenities.


Desert Cedars Plaza by Desert Cedars Equities: Under site plan review

This plaza will be located at the northeast corner of Bowlin Road and John Wayne Parkway.


Vestar Development Co.: Conceptual stages only

Located directly to the west of The Wells, this center will incorporate big box retail developments as well as other retail, restaurant, and entertainment amenities.


Note: First the site plan review gets approved by the Planning Department, and then building plans can be submitted for review and approval.
