Annexation 07-01

City of Maricopa grows 13.75 square miles: ruling on Annexation 07-01 issued Monday, December 1

On Monday, December 1, the City of Maricopa received a ruling from Pinal County Superior Court regarding the challenge to Annexation 07-01. Judge Gilberto Figueroa ruled in favor of the City of Maricopa, upholding the validity of Annexation 07-01, which includes an additional 13.75 square miles of land to the northwest of the current city borders, which extends Maricopa to the Pinal/Maricopa County line and includes Highway 238 - a corridor that is a focal area for future industrial development and the center for planned regional aviation. The annexation was initially completed in May 2008, and was subsequently challenged by three of the property owners. The signed judgment was issued December 19, 2008, and the City of Maricopa has fully transitioned service responsibilities with Pinal County. The Mayor and Council of Maricopa warmly welcome the city’s newest residents.
