How do I know if I should dial 911 or the police non-emergency number?
If the situation is life threatening or there is a crime in progress call 911. If you want to report a crime that has already occurred, report suspicious activity, have a non-emergency situation, or have a question, call (520) 866-5111. -top-

Where is the police department located?
The Maricopa Police Department headquarters building is located at 45147 W. Madison Ave just west of Interim City Hall.-top-

What are the lobby hours of the police department?
Our lobby at headquarters is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. The MPD public lobby is closed on weekends and Holidays. If you need police assistance after hours, call 520/866-5111. -top-

How do I get a copy of a police report?
Requests may be submitted in person at 45147 W. Madison Ave. You may contact our Records Division at 520/316-6917 for a copy of the request form or for more information. The request form is available online. The cost is $5.00 per report up to 35 pages; .15 cents per page beyond that. Request may take up to 20 business days to process. -top-

I need to be fingerprinted for a job. Does the Maricopa Police Department do public fingerprinting?
The Maricopa Police Department does not do public fingerprinting. Refer to your local Yellow Pages under “Fingerprinting” or try a Qwest Dex online search. -top-

I want to start a Neighborhood Watch in my area. Who do I contact for information?

Contact the Motor Vehicle Department at 602/255-0072 or visit their website. -top-

Where can I get information on concealed weapons permits?
Contact the Arizona Department of Public Safety at 602/223-2000. -top-

Where can I get an Order of Protection or an Injunction Against Harassment?
You can visit any Justice or municipal court for more information. In Maricopa the court is located at 19955 N. Wilson Ave., 520/866-3999. -top-

Why did it take two hours for an officer to come to my house when my house was burglarized?
A patrol officer will respond to your home; however, calls are prioritized according to the seriousness of the situation.

  • Priority E - Any life threatening call with great possibility of death or serious injury, or any confrontation between people which could threaten the life or safety of any person
  • Priority One - Any crime in progress which might result in a threat to injury of a person, or major loss of property, or immediate apprehension of a suspect. It also includes accidents with injury or other traffic incidents that create a traffic hazard
  • Priority Two - Includes minor in-progress/just occurred calls where there is no threat of personal injury or major loss of propert
  • Priority Three - Includes nuisance calls, civil standbys, and any incident which could be categorized as a delayed report where the reporting person is at a public location
  • Priority Four - Calls include reports taken by our call-back officers. Calls dispatched involved events where a delay will not prevent a crime from occurring, aid in an immediate apprehension of a suspect or cause a delay in an injured person receiving aid -top-

What can we do about speeding on our street?
The speed trailer can be reserved to be displayed on your street through your local police substation. This trailer will display vehicle speeds as well as the speed limit for your street. The trailer is a visual warning device. You can also request extra patrol from the MPD Traffic Unit. Call the traffic hotline at 520/316-6919. -top-

My neighbor's dog is always barking. What can I do? Can I remain anonymous?
Animal Control is a department of Pinal County. You may reach them at 520/509-3555. They will not take anonymous reports. If an animal is posing a threat to the public or traffic flow, you can call the police non-emergency number at 520/866-5111. All other calls should be directed to the Animal Control office. -top-

Will the police department recommend an alarm company, brand of pepper spray or anything else?
The Maricopa Police Department cannot recommend particular brands or companies. We can tell you what features may be of benefit to you and what to avoid. MPD Alarm information line is 520/316-6916.-top-

How do I send a compliment/commendation about an officer or thank them for something they have done?

How do I find out about sex offenders living in my neighborhood?
Visit the Arizona Department of Public Safety's Sex Offender Info Center. You will able to search by zip code and/or name. -top-

Who do I call to report graffiti?
Call the Graffiti Hotline at 520/316-6900. City Code Compliance will be automatically notified to arrange for the abatement of the graffiti. -top-

Do I need a permit for my home or business alarm?
The city of Maricopa requires all homes and business to permit their burglary alarm . A permit is available at the City Hall lobby or online. A $10.00 annual fee is required for each permit. -top-

If I suspect drug activity, a drug house or meth lab in my neighborhood, who do I call?
You can call the Silent Witness Hotline to report any suspected drug activity. You can also send an anonymous text message to the Secret Crime Text Line. Just send the letters MPD and your crime information to 27463. The information will be forwarded to the Street Crimes Unit. You can remain anonymous. -top-

How do I find out why the police were in my neighborhood?
The Maricopa Police Department puts out a daily calls for service report (Police Blotter). The blotter lists every call the MPD responded to in the last 24 hour period. No names, home addresses or other sensitive information is included in the public blotter report. For more information contact the Public Information Office at 520/316-6882.-top-
