This past June, the Maricopa City Council voted unanimously to adopt the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan. Developed by TIP Strategies Inc. with input from key stakeholders, City Council and City staff, the Plan will serve to guide the City’s economic development efforts over the next 3-5 years.

The following is the City’s new Economic Development Vision Statement, per the Plan:

Maricopa will be a leading regional partner, providing growth opportunities for new companies, entrepreneurs and expanding companies by delivering high quality services, sites and talent to local, regional, national and international businesses.

The Plan also established the following four economic development goals, each with specific implementation strategies:

• To be a regional leader in economic development with properly aligned resources and tools.
• To be a community recognized by site selectors and companies in target industries as having a high quality real estate product.
• To have effective marketing that positions the community as a top-of-mind destination for new investment opportunities among key target sectors and audiences.
• To be known as a community with a unique quality of place within the region.

The Plan is an important building block in the City’s pursuit of a local economy that is diverse, sustainable and competitive in the global economy. The City is working hard to make the Plan a reality and would like to thank everyone who participated in the planning process.
