Labor Force One of Maricopa's greatest assets is its strong workforce and resident demographic. Each year since the City's incorporation, data has been collected in order to be able to provide the most up-to-date information on trends and realities in the community. The most recent research was completed in January of 2010 by Elliott Pollack & Co., which found that the city of Maricopa has an outstanding workforce, both in terms of quantity and quality. - 48.7% of Maricopa residents have a bachelor's degree or higher
- An astounding 89% reported having at least some college education
- Overall, the Maricopa workforce is highly skilled with 53% working in management and other professional occupations
- 47% of residents commute more than 30 miles one way to work; the average travel time to work for metro area workers is about 27 minutes
- More than 75% of respondents reported a household income greater than $50,000, and 22% of Maricopa respondents reported a household income of $100,000 or greater
- The majority of the Maricopa workforce would leave their current company for a closer workplace and over 60% would even consider changing their career or accepting reduced pay if a local job presented an opportunity
- 88% of Maricopians have internet access in their homes, and 50% have two or more computers
- Top preferred leisure activities for residents were dining out (51%), going to the movies (46%), and sports-related (41%)
