Fishing Derby

REEL THEM IN AT THE ANNUAL FISHING DERBY! Maricopa's Fishing Derby event has become an annual tradition for parents and children in our community. The event allows up to 150 children, ages five to 12, to participate in a catch-and-release fishing tournament held at Pacana Park. Each child receives a fishing kit complete with rod, reel and bait. The event is then topped off with a good old fashioned BBQ. Event guests will dine on hot dogs, chips, cookies, water and soda.

"This event brings families and neighbors together," Mayor Smith commented. "It's a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy a wonderful event with their kids in beautiful Arizona weather."

8th Annual Fishing Derby
Registration begins February 8, 2012 for the 8th Annual Fishing Derby. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Pacana Park; Check-in at 1:30 p.m., fishing begins at 2:30 p.m. Per participant fee is $5. The derby will last approximately 90 minutes.
