Halftime Entertainment for City Program Held at Sequoia Pathway

During the Fall/Winter Session 2011 the Community Services Department and Desert Star Gymnastics have been offering Basketball Mini camps at Sequoia Pathway Charter School. Practices are held on Monday evenings and scrimmages on Friday nights. On Friday, November 18, 2011 the E-Team was invited to help with halftime entertainment for the 5 - 7 year olds and the 8 - 10 year olds scrimmage.

 

Some of the activities the E-Team carried out included:

  • Introducing the teams
  • Interactive games with the audience
  • Incorporated dances with the cheerleaders from sequoia
  • Step performance
  • Singers came up with a song just for the kids at this event
  • Twisted Balloons given out

 We had 11 active members from the E-Team and 120 people in the audience. It was a great evening full of excitement for players, audience and the E-Team.

Maricopa Youth Flag Football

N._Sansone-action Maricopa Youth Flag Football is moving full steam ahead. This year's flag football program is composed of 475 players & 48 teams, raising the figures by 110 kids from last year's program. The age divisions consist of 4-5, 6-7, 8-9 & 10-13, all co-ed divisions. The season started on October 18 & wraps up on December 10.

Local Maricopa Punt, Pass & Kick Winners Compete

20111122-PPKSECTIONALS Local Maricopa Punt, Pass & Kick winners compete in Sectionals on November 13 in Glendale, AZ. Competitors were Chelsey Mason girls 6-7 div; Sarah Mason girls 10-11; Taylor Radcliffe 14-15 girls div; Jayden Horten 8-9 boys div; Joshua Munoz 12-13 boys div; Michael Radcliffe boys 14-15 div. Jayden's score of 160 pts was good enough to place 1st in the 8-9 boy's age division. Jayden received a first place medal and is waiting to hear if he qualified to compete in the Nationals on Dec. 18 at Cardinal Stadium.

2011 Winter / Spring Activity Guide Now Available!

201111-MyMaricopa-FINALWEB_Page_01Here's a sneak peak at the latest Activity Guide and just just some of the exciting programs being offered:
  • A Splash of Color Ceramics: Each class offers one to three pieces of pottery to be designed (glazed) as well as demonstrate many different techniques, designs, textures, glazes and more.
  • Maricopa Teen Conservatory Theatre: Participants learn the basic techniques of acting, auditioning, stage presence, projection and more.
  • Yoga by Anusara Method emphasizes attitude, alignment and action. Attitude embraces the function of the heart in relation to the movement of the body. Alignment concentrates on the muscular, skeletal and internal organ positioning for body strength and balance. Action encourages the student to express the natural flow of energy with stability and fearlessness.

Registration begins Nov. 28, 2011 with classes starting as early as Jan. 9, 2012.

Punt Pass & Kick Competition

20110910-PuntPassKickCity of Maricopa hosted the Punt Pass & Kick competition on September 10 at Pacana Park. The event had 56 competitors for the event. Winners in their respective age divisions get a chance to compete in the Sectionals in Glendale, Arizona on November 13 at Saguaro Park.
