McCABEsmThe City of Maricopa Police Department (MPD) is proud to announce that Officer Joseph McCabe has been selected by his supervisors to receive the Officer of the Year Award. The award is given through the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 12043, located in Maricopa. Officer McCabe will receive his award during a ceremony at 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10 at the VFW in Apache Junction.

Officer McCabe was nominated by his supervisor, Sergeant Leonard Perez, for his demonstrated outstanding performance exemplifying his dedication to duty and consistent superior achievement.

In his nomination, Sgt. Perez noted that in July 2011, Officer McCabe received two commendations for his superior performance in the investigation of burglaries. One of the Department’s defensive tactics instructors, Officer McCabe continually seeks out training to provide MPD with the most current techniques. He understands the concept of teamwork and always makes himself available to assist other officers.

Officer McCabe is consistently one of the leaders of his squad for calls for service and assists whenever needed. He identifies problems and offers solutions and displays the attributes of a future leader of the Department. Another example of his professionalism is his involvement with the Honor Guard. Officer McCabe has traveled throughout Arizona and has represented the MPD at numerous events. “Officer McCabe is a credit to himself and the department and he demonstrates this on a daily basis,” said Sgt. Perez.
