 The Maricopa Police Department Investigations Unit is comprised of five detectives, a K-9 officer and a Sergeant.
The Unit is broken down into teams based on areas of responsablity. They include:
The Street Crimes Unit: Street Crimes works to investigate street level crime including graffiti, gang activity, narcotics and property crime such as burglary and auto theft.
Persons Crimes Unit: Persons crimes investigates criminal activity surrounding assaults, sexual crimes and crimes against children.
K-9 Officer: The K-9 unit works closely to support patrol in drug interdiction and suspect apprehension.
The Investigations Unit is responsible for following up on criminal cases, preparing criminal cases for court and investigating serious crime scenes and arresting outstanding suspects. Detectives receive specialized training in interviewing techniques, identifying evidence and crime scene processing. For more information on the MPD Investigations Unit, contact the unit supervisor
