This slice of Americana includes a pie eating contest, water zone, and movie in the park. Festivities include a fireworks show set off immediately following the movie, a whiffle ball tournament and a watermelon seed spitting contest. For the third year running, the City of Maricopa will host the largest Fourth of July community event in Pinal County.
Maricopa's Great American BBQ begins at 6:00 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Admission to the event is free, and park and ride locations have been set-up at Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, Maricopa and Pima Butte Elementary Schools, the First Baptist Church, and Maricopa Wells Middle School.
In addition to fireworks, the event will feature nine vendors preparing an old-fashioned barbecue, a beer garden, pie eating and watermelon seed spitting contests and a whiffle ball tournament. Activities include seven inflatable water slides and a dunk tank.
Pacana Park is located on Porter Road, just south of Honeycutt Road at 19000 S. Porter Road in Maricopa. Park and ride locations will open at 5:30 p.m.
