Economic and Community Development is a committed team that works to make Maricopa a prosperous community by actively engaging citizens to foster a thriving business- and built-environment.

You may have questions about the development process. Fortunately, you are not on your own in the City of Maricopa - each project will be assigned a personal Project Liaison to coordinate staff processes, provide assistance to entrepreneurs, and help ensure a smooth ascension of your venture. Not only is Maricopa open for business - there is no better community in Arizona for business.

Where do I start?

Residential projects that require a permit can be found here

If you already have a site and business plan formulated for a new commercial project, start by applying for a preliminary application (pre-app) on Maricopa's VIP Portal. This is where you will receive a guide on how to proceed with the project.

Haven't picked a site yet? Check out our Development Opportunities Map or call our team at 520-316-6990 if you need precursory assistance.

Maricopa has gone paperless using the VIP Portal, your resource to report concerns, schedule inspections, print and apply for permits, pay fees, upload plans, and track your project. Some permits still require an application to be filled out and submitted online, for a list of current applications click here. Before you get started, be sure to check out our tutorial here.
