A new class of leaders is stepping forward to serve Maricopa. At their most recent meeting, Vice Mayor Henry Wade led the 2025–2026 Maricopa Youth Council in the Oath of Office. With hands raised and voices in unison, each member pledges to represent their peers, their community, and the future of Maricopa.

From within their ranks, seven were chosen by their peers to serve as officers — guiding the council’s efforts and setting the course for the year ahead.

  • Chair: Kimmy Hoang
  • Vice Chair: J’antre Van Buren
  • Secretary: Brendan Small
  • Officer: Katie Heien
  • Officer: Josephine Hoskins
  • Officer: Jake Knorr
  • Officer: Ezekiel Orian

The Youth Council is more than a title — it is a leadership laboratory where tomorrow’s decision-makers learn how local government works, give voice to the concerns of young people, and contribute ideas that shape the community.

Members take on real responsibilities such as organizing service projects, volunteering at citywide events, and advising on programs that impact youth. Past councils have participated in community clean-up days, supported holiday celebrations, hosted drives for local charities, and worked alongside city departments to share youth perspectives on key initiatives.

Vice Mayor Wade describes the program as an investment in the city’s future.

“Our Youth Council ensures that young people not only have a voice, but also an opportunity to lead. They are gaining the tools to make an impact now — and to carry those lessons into their adult lives.”

With fresh perspectives, energy, and commitment, the 2025–2026 Youth Council is stepping into service — ready to help build a Maricopa where the next generation is seen, heard, and empowered.
