Maricopa Police Department Awarded 2 GOHS Grants

$35,000 Awarded for Safety and Enforcement Investments to Ensure a Safe and Secure Community

Maricopa, Arizona, November 04, 2025 The Maricopa Police Department (MPD) recently received official notification that it was the recipient of two Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) grants for FY26. These grants will assist MPD in building upon prior educational and prevention initiatives developed and implemented utilizing past GOHS grant awards. Maricopa has continuously been ranked one of the safest cities in the State of Arizona, and grants like these make it possible.

This year, MPD received the following awards:

DUI/Impaired Driving Enforcement: $10,000

  •  Provides resources for MPD to conduct additional DUI enforcement details and supplies for officers.

Speed and Traffic Enforcement: $25,000

  • Provides resources for MPD to conduct additional Selective Traffic Enforcement (STEP) outreach campaigns to communicate and educate motorists about traffic laws and provide safety tips.

GOHS plays a key role in the development, promotion, and coordination of public safety programs within Arizona. To achieve its goals, GOHS provides funding to law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and non-profit organizations to make the highways and roads safer for all Arizonans.

MPD would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for their continued support to help make the City of Maricopa a safer place for our community members and our visitors.
