Home MenuChild Safety Seat Program
Motor vehicle crashes remain one of the leading causes of serious injury and death among children. In many cases, improper use or lack of child safety seats plays a significant role in these tragedies. The Maricopa Fire/Medical Department is committed to ensuring every child is safely secured during every trip.
Our Child Safety Seat Program provides education and hands-on training for parents and caregivers, ensuring they understand how to properly install and use child safety seats. A Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) will inspect and install car seats while teaching families how to correctly position the seat, adjust the harness, and follow best practices for child passenger safety.
See Something, Say Something
If you witness a child riding unrestrained in a moving vehicle, call 1-800-505-BABY to report the incident. Please provide:
- The vehicle’s license plate number and state
- The city where the violation occurred
- The location of the child within the vehicle (e.g., front seat, driver’s lap)
The vehicle owner will receive an informational letter reminding them of Arizona’s child restraint laws, which require all children under five to be properly secured in an appropriate car seat. This letter is not a ticket but an opportunity to raise awareness and promote child passenger safety.
