Background Information

These programs are made possible by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed by congress and signed into law on March 27, 2020. The City has explored, with public input, how best to utilize some of our allocation to support local businesses and non-profits. The Mayor and City Council has allocated approximately $1.35 million of the City's CARES Act funds to support our businesses and launch the Maricopa Business Reemergence Program, and approximately $350 thousand of the City's CARES Act funds for the Maricopa Food & Aid Distribution Non-Profit Assistance Program.

The Maricopa Business Reemergence Program is a funding program designed to assist eligible Maricopa businesses with business costs related to the purchasing of personal protection equipment (PPE) and other materials that help adhere to recommended COVID-19 health practices (i.e., one-use wipeable menus, PPE for employees and customers) and/or rent/mortgage payments from March, April and May 2020 due to financial burden caused by COVID-19. This program does not assist with funding employee salaries/benefits or utilities (water, gas, electric, phone, cable, and internet), but we have resources for those needs on our Business Resources page.

The Maricopa Food & Aid Distribution Non-Profit Assistance Program is a funding program designed to assist Maricopa non-profits providing food and aid for those impacted by COVID-19. The following expenses will be considered:

• Costs related to the purchasing of personal protection equipment (PPE) and other materials that help adhere to recommended COVID-19 health practices
• Rent/mortgage payments from March, April and May 2020 due to financial burden caused by COVID-19
• Other expenses including capital needs to enhance present and future capabilities.

The City will award funds under the Program in its sole and absolute discretion and there will be no right for an Applicant to appeal the recommendations or decisions of the Committee, City Manager, and/or City Council. Any application submitted not in accordance with the Program Criteria outlined below may be deemed ineligible for award.

Outside of these programs, we have additional resources on our Business Resources page that be beneficial to your business or non-profit.
