Our Mission

What the Court Handles
The Maricopa Municipal Court is responsible for the adjudication and disposition of all local code violations, criminal misdemeanor, criminal traffic and civil traffic cases that occur within the Maricopa city limits. The court also handles order of protection and injunctions against harassment.
Our Judge
Stephen F. McCarville was appointed by the Mayor and Council to lead the transition to a separate court and serve as the Interim Presiding Judge beginning January 2023. Previously he served for over 20 years as judge on the Pinal County Superior Court Division, after being elected to his first full term in 2001. He served until June 2021 and was the Presiding Judge of the Pinal County Superior Court from 2015-2021. He retired as presiding Superior Court judge on June 30, 2021.
He received an undergraduate degree from Creighton University and a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1987. He is a member of the Pinal County Bar Association, Arizona Bar Association, and American Bar Association.
