The CRT is tasked with establishing key relationships in the City of Maricopa, including vested citizens, community leaders, and local businesses. The CRT is responsible for implementing the core concepts and recommendations of the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing as well as the long term vision of the city and police department.

The department was able to create the CRT, which is comprised of one sergeant and three officers. Members of the CRT were chosen through a competitive internal hiring process and selected based on:

  • Their ability to represent the PD
  • Establish pro-social bonds with the community
  • Engage in the tactical deliverance of the core missions of the department

The Community Response Team is, first and foremost, a unit dedicated to addressing challenges faced by the community and its citizens. The CRT maintains a strong working relationship with all members of the community, and citizens are encouraged to contact members of the unit for information, referrals, or to get to know more about the department.
