The Ambassadors of Maricopa Program (AMP) is an opportunity for residents who want to stay informed, get involved, and play a meaningful role in their community.

As an Ambassador, you’ll help share important City updates, connect with others, and contribute to a more informed and engaged Maricopa.

 

 

What is the Ambassadors of Maricopa Program?

The Ambassador Program (AMP) is a continuation of the Citizen Leadership Academy and a City of Maricopa volunteer initiative that connects residents with City leadership, programs, and community events.

AMP Ambassadors serve as a bridge between the City and the community—sharing information, providing feedback, and staying actively engaged in what’s happening across Maricopa.

Who Can Become an Ambassador?

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who:

  • Have a genuine interest in community service
  • Are active and respected members of the community
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Are willing to attend training sessions and meetings
  • Are interested in community engagement and connecting with residents, staff, and local organizations

Qualification Criteria: To become an Ambassador, you must be a resident of the City of Maricopa, at least 16 years of age, and a graduate of the Maricopa Citizen Leadership Academy (MCLA).

Individuals selected to move forward in the volunteer process must successfully complete a background check and drug screening within 48 hours of acceptance prior to participating in volunteer activities. Scheduling conflicts may be accommodated.

 

 

 

Ambassador Responsibilities

As a City Ambassador, you will:

  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions to stay informed about city policies and initiatives
  • Share important updates and information with your community
  • Participate in city events and volunteer opportunities
  • Help foster a positive image of the city through various outreach activities

 

Engagement & Recognition

Ambassadors earn points through participation and engagement:

Points are earned through:

  • Quarterly Ambassador Meeting — 10 points
  • Volunteer Hours — 1 point per hour
  • City Event Volunteer — 15 points
  • City Council Meeting Attendance — 5 points
  • Special Assignments — 5-15 points (based on scope)

Recognition Tiers

Bronze Ambassador (15-49 points earned annually)

    Gets started by staying informed and taking the first steps to stay connected with the City.

Silver Ambassador (50-99 points earned annually)

     Shows up consistently, building connections through regular involvement in City meetings, events, and volunteer efforts.

Gold Ambassador (100+ points earned annually)

     Steps into a bigger role by actively supporting City initiatives and helping share information across the community.

 

Code of Conduct & Messaging Guidelines

Content and Messaging Guidelines

  • Tone: Ambassadors should use a friendly, approachable, and respectful tone, avoiding confrontational language.
  • Consistency: We strongly encourage ambassadors to respond primarily by sharing city-created posts, ensuring a consistent and professional message.
  • Accuracy: All information shared should be factual and up-to-date, with ambassadors verifying details from official city sources before sharing or responding to public inquiries.
  • Community Sensitivity: Ambassadors should remain mindful of the community's diversity and cultural values, avoiding statements that could be misinterpreted or offensive to any group.

Code of Conduct

  • Professional Behavior: Ambassadors are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times, whether in person, online, or over the phone.
  • Social Media Interactions: Ambassadors should use discretion when sharing city content on personal social media profiles. When representing the city, they should maintain a neutral and respectful stance, especially in response to criticism or negative feedback.
  • Public Engagement: Ambassadors should be courteous, patient, and open to listening. In public settings, they should maintain a positive demeanor that reflects
