Maricopa Citizen Leadership Academy Honored During Council Meeting

The newest graduating classes in Maricopa Citizen Leadership Academy’s was recognized at this week’s City Council Meeting. They join over 450 other residents who have completed the academy since its inception in 2009.

The academy gives citizens an in-depth understanding of how local government works and empowers them to become actively engaged in the community. Five classes were held in the evening, covering topics including Maricopa’s history, public safety, regional issues, economic development, and included presentations from local utility service providers.

In order to complete the academy, citizens must attend at least 4 out of the 5 sessions offered as well as either complete at least 90 minutes of community service or attend one board, commission, or committee meeting.
