The City of Maricopa and Boys & Girls Club of Sun Corridor are pleased to announce a new agreement to transfer management of the City's youth camp offerings over to the Club. The Club is an affiliate of the nationally esteemed non-profit organization that is globally recognized for its reputation and success in creating outstanding programs and resources to serve nearly 5-million children across the country. "The goal has always been for the City to lay a foundation and expectation for youth camp programming that could one day transition to the private and non-profit sectors," said Deputy City Manager Matt Kozlowski, who oversees the City's Recreation Department. "We are thrilled to see an organization with this much expertise step forward to meet the needs of the community. Not only do we benefit from their experience, but their undertaking also allows City staff to redirect its focus and resources into continuously improving other City services." "Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens," said Matthew Lemberg, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club of Sun Corridor. "Our vision is to provide a world-class club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. We are excited that this agreement will allow us to serve more Maricopa youth." The transition means that youth camps that have been offered during school breaks will no longer be offered through the City or Copper Sky. Instead, registration for summer camp programming through the Boys & Girls Club will begin April 1 and will be hosted at Santa Cruz Elementary School.
