Local Artists Wanted for City's New Artist Spotlight
Published on July 16, 2026
Have you ever imagined seeing your artwork hanging in a gallery for others to admire? The City of Maricopa is making that dream a little more attainable with the launch of its new Artist Spotlight program, giving local artists a dedicated space to showcase their creativity inside City Hall.
The Artist Spotlight program will feature rotating exhibitions in the hallway of City Hall, where selected artists will display their work for three-month periods. It's a unique opportunity to share your passion with the community while adding color, creativity, and inspiration to one of the City's busiest public spaces.
The first call for artists is now open, with applications due by August 9, 2026.
Following the application deadline, the City's Cultural Affairs Arts and Arts Advisory Committee (CAAAC) will review submissions and select three artists for the inaugural exhibition schedule. Display periods will run from September through November 2026, December 2026 through February 2027, and March through May 2027.
Artists are invited to submit digital images of the artwork they would like to exhibit. All submissions will be reviewed using the same criteria as the City's themed gallery exhibitions at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center, including artwork size requirements and suitability for public display. The committee may exclude pieces that do not meet the program guidelines.
Whether you're an experienced artist with years of exhibitions behind you or someone looking for your very first public showcase, the Artist Spotlight program is an opportunity to connect with the community and share your unique perspective through art.
A second call for artists is planned for April 2027, allowing even more local artists to participate in future exhibition rotations.
If you've been looking for a new way to share your artwork with the community, now is the perfect time. Submit your application before the August 9 deadline and let your creativity inspire City Hall visitors for months to come.
