The culmination of years of work by the City of Maricopa and the Maricopa Historically Society, we are thrilled to invite all to join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony for theMaricopa Museum and Visitor Center at Heritage Park!

“This museum is an extremely important addition to our city. Not only does it chronical fascinating stories from our past, it also connects our current residents with the unique identity of those who came before us. As the city continues to experience a tremendous growth spurt, it is imperative that we preserve our proud history.”- Mayor Nancy Smith

This image gives you just a glimpse of what the museum holds. The photo captures Dallas and Susie Smith in front of their Model T circa 1914.The couple moved to Maricopa in 1912 and, along with one other car owner, helped Maricopa briefly claim the title for highest number of automobiles per capita in the world… two cars and 18 residents.

“Since its construction in the 1940’s the building has served as an army facility, a library and a veterans center. The current restoration provides space for a museum with captivating exhibits and stories about Maricopa and Arizona. The building also enters into another service with a Visitor Center to highlight the many exciting aspects of Maricopa for visitors, tourists, potential new residents and members of our community looking for information. It continues as a friendly community gathering space!"- Paul Shirk, Maricopa Historical Society
