Today 11-year-old Christian Balaguer and his family put away thoughts about his terminal illness and instead suited up with badges of honor and beaming smiles. Chief James Hughes swore in Christian as an honorary deputy in a ceremony this morning at the police department headquarters. Christian was bursting with personality and lifted the entire room with his energy and a mighty singing voice as he excitedly awaited the ceremony,
"This kid has so much incredible energy and positivity," said Chief Hughes. "I've never met someone quite like him who cares so much about what we do and we were happy to make Christian a part of it."
As an honorary officer, Christian and his mother will be able to visit the police department and say hello to his fellow officers whenever he'd like. Thank you Christian for helping keep Maricopa safe and providing a glimpse of what it means to truly live life to the fullest.
