Maricopa Fire/Medical Department Fire Corps

 

Fire Corps® is a national grassroots effort to help fire/EMS departments enhance their services by engaging with community members to assist with non-emergency tasks. Whether conducting fire prevention and life safety education, rehab for firefighters at active scenes, or a myriad of other activities, community volunteers can make a real difference. Utilizing community support helps departments increase their capacity and allows first responders to focus on operational duties, training, and emergencies.

Volunteers opportunities include: 

• On-Scene Firefighter Rehab: 

  • Support first responders during extended incidents by providing rest, hydration, cooling, nourishment, and basic medical evaluations

  • Must be able to lift 25-30 pounds

• Support Services:

  • Pick up and deliver mail, supplies, and equipment locally and across the Phoenix Metro area

  • Assist in tracking EMS supply inventory

  • Installing keys in residential lock boxes for emergency access

  • Staff the front desk at the MFMD Administration Building to greet visitors, receive deliveries, and answer the phone

  • Service residential smoke alarms by checking dates, changing batteries, cleaning units, and providing fire and life safety information

• Administrative Duties:

  • Support volunteer program management through applicant processing, recordkeeping, roster updates, and maintaining forms and job descriptions

• Special Events: 

  • Assist with public education at City events, community events and schools by distributing safety information and personal safety items

Minimum Qualifications: 

• 18 Years or Older
• Valid Driver's License
• Able to use a computer
• Volunteer a minimum of six hours a month
• Reside in the City of Maricopa located in Pinal County
