The Maricopa Police Department (MPD) recently received official notification that it was the recipient of two Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) grants for FY24. These grants will assist MPD in building upon prior educational and prevention initiatives developed and implemented utilizing past GOHS grant awards. Maricopa has continuously been ranked one of the safest cities in the State of Arizona, and grants like these make it possible. This year, MPD received the following awards: DUI/Impaired Driving Enforcement: $21,500
Speed and Traffic Enforcement: $53,500
GOHS plays a key role in the development, promotion, and coordination of public safety programs within Arizona. To achieve its goals, GOHS provides funding to law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and non-profit organizations to make the highways and roads safer for all Arizonans. MPD would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for their continued support to help make the City of Maricopa a safer place for our community members and our visitors.
