Think your salsa has what it takes to be Maricopa's favorite? Or maybe you're just here for the chips. Either way, the City of Maricopa is giving residents plenty of ways to get involved in the 2026 Salsa Fest, taking place Saturday, October 24, as part of the City's Stagecoach Days Party at Pacana festivities.

From tasting and voting to entering a family recipe or preparing salsa on-site, there is a way for everyone to join the competition.

Just Here for the Salsa? Taste and Vote!

For those who prefer to leave the cooking to the competitors, the Salsa Fest offers the perfect opportunity to sample the action.

Nando’s Mexican Cafe is helping bring the heat as a sponsor of the Salsa Fest competition, making it possible for attendees to purchase chip kits for just $1. On top of the tasty chips, each kit includes a ticket to vote for the day's Fan Favorite. Attendees can work their way through the competing salsas, decide which one brings the most flavor and cast their vote for the salsa they think deserves the crown.

The fan favorite will go home with a trophy and $1,000 prize thanks to our sponsors.

Have a Great Recipe? Try the Home Chef Contest

For residents who have a favorite homemade salsa recipe but aren't quite ready to commit to making a large amount, the Home Chef Salsa Contest offers an easier way to enter the competition.

The contest is designed for community members to prepare their salsa at home and submit one 16-ounce container for judging. A panel of judges will privately evaluate each entry using a standardized scoring sheet, with combined scores determining the winners.

Entries must be dropped off at a designated location on Friday, October 16, 2026.

Winners will be announced on the main stage during the Stagecoach Salsa Fest on Saturday, October 24, and will receive prizes and, perhaps most importantly, bragging rights.

Ready to Go Big? Become an On-Site Salsa Competitor

For those ready to bring their salsa game to the next level, the On-Site Salsa Competition is where the real heat comes in.

On-site competitors will prepare their salsa from start to finish at the Party at Pacana, giving festival attendees the opportunity to watch the competition unfold and taste the finished products.

But there's a catch: competitors will be required to produce 15 gallons of salsa for the community to sample and vote on.

Because this is a food preparation competition, on-site competitors must comply with all applicable health code requirements and inspections and maintain the required food-handling certifications. Informational sessions will be available to assist with food-handling requirements for the on-site competition.

It's a bigger investment, but it also comes with a bigger opportunity to claim bragging rights as one of Maricopa's top salsa competitors.

With the support of our sponsors there will be recognitions given for the Fan Favorite voted on by attendees, Best Hot Salsa, Best Mild Salsa, and a runner- up in each. That’s $5,000 up for grabs!

Pick Your Level

Whether you're a salsa enthusiast, a first-time competitor or someone who thinks their recipe belongs in the salsa hall of fame, there's a spot for you at Stagecoach Salsa Fest.
