It’s quite a thing to witness someone reaching the pinnacle of their career goals. It’s even rarer when you’ve been able to witness so much of their journey unfold right in front of you. That’s exactly what happened this past weekend as Brad Pitassi was officially sworn in as Chief of the Maricopa Fire and Medical Department. Pitassi’s path to this point, and that of the Department, are connected from the start. He began working in Maricopa in 2003 as an EMT for a private ambulance service. In 2006, he was hired as a firefighter for the Maricopa Fire District, which officially annexed into the City the following year. “It’s amazing to see Maricopa’s history being built right before our eyes! Our fire department is very young, but already we are establishing a rich tradition of excellence that cities around the country aspire to. Chief Pitassi not only embodies that tradition, he helped us create it and strives to infuse it throughout the organization every day.”- Mayor Nancy Smith. Pitassi leads the only department in Pinal County accepted in the Phoenix Regional Automatic Aid System. This partnership gives Maricopa immediate access to range of fire resources from around the Valley and is widely recognized as one of the most effective emergency resource response systems in the entire country. “It’s an incredible opportunity to have the City Manager, Mayor, and Council entrust in me the leadership of the department that I have grown up in and the amazing community of which I have dedicated my career to serve.” Pitassi says. “It is an honor to represent the men and woman of this department, they inspire me every day with their passion and selfless dedication to protect and care for the City of Maricopa citizens and visitors.” Please join us in congratulating Chief Pitassi and his family for all their sacrifices and efforts to keep our community safe!
