The City of Maricopa is pleased to announce that Benjamin Bitter will assume the role of City Manager sooner than anticipated. After a mutual agreement between Bitter and Current City Manager Rick Horst and a contract amendment made by the Maricopa City Council Tuesday evening, Bitter's new start date has been set for April 1, 2024.
"Today’s decision to advance Ben’s start date as City Manager reflects our commitment to maintaining the momentum of our city's progress,” says Mayor Nancy Smith. “We appreciate the flexibility and dedication demonstrated by both individuals, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact they will continue to have on our community."
Originally scheduled to begin his tenure on July 1, 2024, Bitter's transition to the role of City Manager reflects the seamless collaboration and alignment of goals between him and the current leadership.
"I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to step into the role of City Manager earlier than anticipated,” Bitter says. “I am grateful for the support and guidance of Rick Horst and the City Council, and I am excited to work collaboratively with our dedicated team to serve the residents of Maricopa and lead our city into its next chapter of success."
On April 1, Horst will transition to his new role as Chief Strategy Officer, focused on the city's continued growth and economic development.
"Under Rick's guidance, Maricopa has experienced significant progress and stability. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping our community's growth and development over the years. We are immensely grateful for his dedication and service as City Manager,” says Maricopa Mayor Nancy Smith. “As he transitions into his new role, we look forward to benefiting from his continued expertise and strategic vision as we navigate the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. His wealth of experience will undoubtedly be a tremendous asset to Maricopa as we continue to strive for excellence."
