Officer Drake Enghusen joined the Maricopa Police Department in May of 2018 and he currently serves in our patrol division. Drake is married and hails from Mesa, AZ. Growing up, Drake worked in security and worked as a waiter, prior to starting his career in law enforcement. Drake saw his older cousin, a U.S. Marine who eventually joined the Phoenix Police Department, as a role model and wanted to follow in his footsteps. Something Drake’s co-workers might not know about him is that his grandfather was his best friend and taught youngster Drake how to throw a ball. Drake is also a musician and plays the 6-string and 12-string acoustic guitars. A few of Drake’s favorite things: Football team: Pittsburg Steelers. Basketball team: Phoenix Suns. Movies: A Few Good Men / King’s Man. Music bands - Artists: Luke Combs / Ozzy Osborne / Black Sabbath / Toby Keith. Video game: Call of Duty. Restaurant: Charleston’s Restaurant in Mesa. Ice cream: Vanilla. The worst job Drake ever had was cleaning commercial trucks by hand and detailing the inside of them. Most embarrassing moment: When Drake was five, he was at his grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. He was running around on the dance floor when his pants fell off, in front of everyone -- And yes, it was captured on video. Best vacation: In 2010 when Drake was just a teenager, he and his family took a vacation cruise to Cozumel Mexico with another family. The other family’s daughter was about the same age as Drake. Long story short and fast-forward about 11 years, Drake and that lovely young lady got married and are expecting their first child this year! Drake’s wife and their new child to-be are the biggest positive influences in his life -- and the rest is history! Drake’s definition of success is achieving your goals. One of Drake’s proudest accomplishments is when he worked at a retirement center, prior to being in law enforcement. On three separate occasions, Drake was able to give CPR to three people who were in cardiac arrest. In each case Drake was able to save each person’s life (now that’s a hero!). One of Drake’s proudest career moments was when he apprehended the Arizona Quick-bite Bandit! The Quick-bite Bandit was responsible for a rash of burglaries at valley-area Subway sandwich shops. At that time, Drake was a new officer in field training and he and his training officer, with their keen ability to sense when crime was afoot, brought another thief to justice, making the streets of Maricopa safer that night. Well, that concludes this edition of the MPD Employee Spotlight. Stay tuned for the next edition, coming soon!
