Local Students Win Scholarships from Maricopa Community Foundation

The Maricopa Community Foundation presented several scholarships to students during last week's City Council meeting. Each student received funds ranging between $1,500 to $2,500 for use in pursuit of furthering their education. The winners include Amelia Guzman, Madison Tyler, Airen Fortunato, Kanthikan Kanjana,Katie Hanks, Alexis Foremanand A’Shayla Anderson. Nearly $20,000 in scholarships were awarded to all of the students.

"We have some excellent youth doing excellent things," said Councilmember Wade who announced the winners.

In order to receive a scholarship, students must maintain a minimum GPA as outlined in the guidelines, submit an essay as to why they should receive the scholarship, and be a resident of the City.
