MFMD Hosted Promotional Pinning Ceremony Last Week

The Maricopa Fire/Medical Department (MFMD) hosted its annual pinning ceremony at the Maricopa Community Center last Saturday. Fifteen members of the MFMD team were honored by receiving their official promotional badges alongside their friends, family, and loved ones.

The badge-pinning ceremony is a longstanding tradition in the fire service, serving as a crucial milestone for firefighters. It symbolizes their official entry into a new role, highlighting their dedication to the City and willingness to accept more responsibility within the department.

“This is one of the best days in the department as we pause to honor and celebrate those who are stepping up to lead the department into its bright future,” said Fire Chief Brad Pitassi.

The members of the MFMD staff who received pins and promotions were:

  • Jeff Fuller - Fire Engineer

  • Shayleen Parris  - Fire Engineer
  • Claudio Rodriguez  - Fire Engineer
  • Kyle Stanley  - Fire Engineer
  • Andrew Boland - Fire Captain 
  • Justin Henzel  - Fire Captain 
  • Dustin Jenkins - Fire Captain 
  • Nathan Maxcy - Battalion Chief  
  • Michael Grant - Assistant Fire Chief 

This day isn’t just to honor not just the firefighters but also their families and friends whose support for those involved in this demanding profession, is essential for success. The pinning of their new badges by these important individuals is a testament to their vital roles in the lives of our first responders.

The ceremony underscores the importance of community and having a good support network to help in achieving excellence in the fire service.
