Road Work Alert: Lane Restrictions and Closures Scheduled in Early May
Published on April 27, 2026
The City of Maricopa is notifying residents and motorists of a few upcoming roadway projects that will require lane restrictions and closures in early May. These improvements are part of the City’s ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance roadway safety and functionality.
Weekend Closure: John Wayne Parkway at Cobblestone Drive
Friday, May 1 at 4:00 AM – Sunday, May 3 at 9:00 PM
The northbound right-most lane on John Wayne Parkway at Cobblestone Drive will be closed for paving work. This project will create a new right-turn lane providing improved access into the commercial area located at the northeast corner of John Wayne Parkway and Smith-Enke Road.
Motorists traveling northbound on John Wayne Parkway should plan for delays and consider alternative routes. Crews will work to reopen the roadway early if the work is completed ahead of the planned end time.
Full Intersection Closure: Reis Drive and Rancho El Dorado Parkway
May 4 – May 22
The intersection of North Reis Drive and West Rancho El Dorado Parkway will be fully closed to allow crews to complete necessary roadway repairs.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during this time. Local access will be maintained where possible, but through traffic will not be permitted.
Overnight Lane Closures: John Wayne Parkway and Smith-Enke Road
May 4 – May 7 | 9:00 PM – 4:00 AM
Sunland Asphalt will conduct pavement warranty work at the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Smith-Enke Road. Turn lanes at the intersection will be closed nightly between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
These overnight closures are scheduled to minimize daytime traffic impacts; however, drivers should still expect minor delays and use caution when traveling through the area.
What to Expect
The City appreciates the public’s patience as these improvements are completed. Drivers are reminded to slow down, stay alert, and follow all posted traffic control measures when traveling through work zones.
