NOTICE is hereby given that the City of Maricopa will be holding an election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 for the purpose of referring Proposition 414, Advancing Maricopa General Plan Update, to the qualified electors. Proposition 414 is a proposed measure that is required by Arizona law to set policy for the City’s growth and development. General Plans consist of a statement of community goals and development policies to encourage thoughtful and well-planned growth that enhances the quality of life. The Advancing Maricopa General Plan is the updated plan that is prepared to address the issues and desires expressed by residents today, and replace the Planning Maricopa General Plan adopted by voters in 2016.

Individuals may file arguments for or against the proposed General Plan, which will be published in an election publicity pamphlet that will be mailed to each household with a registered voter. The last day to file arguments is 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Arguments are limited to 300 words in length, not including the signature block, and must contain the sworn statement of each person sponsoring it. Each signature appearing with the argument must include the following statement above the signature: I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing information is true and correct and I am the sponsor of this argument advocating or opposing this proposition.

If the argument is sponsored by an organization, it must contain the sworn statement of two executive officers of the organization. If the argument is sponsored by a political committee, it must contain the sworn statement of the committee’s chairman or treasurer.

The address and phone number for each signer must be included in the argument but will not be printed in the publicity pamphlet, except that the person’s city and state of residence will appear in the pamphlet.

Any argument that is submitted and that does not comply with the requirements above may not be included in the pamphlet.
