Project: City of Maricopa General Plan Update
Proposal: Case # GPA26-01: The City of Maricopa has initiated a proposal for the update of the City’s General Plan as part of the ten-year update required in state law. The Maricopa General Plan establishes a comprehensive, long-range policy framework to guide the City's growth and development. The General Plan includes community vision, analysis of existing conditions, maps, goals, and policies addressing the following topics: Land Use; Growth Areas; Transportation; Transit; Environment; Resource Conservation; Parks, Recreation, and Open Space; Water; Energy; Economic Development; Energy; Safety; Public Facilities and Services; and Cost of Development. The General Plan applies to the existing municipal boundaries and the surrounding planning area, including land extending south toward Interstate 8 and west to the Pinal County line, as authorized by state law. Pursuant to A.R.S. § 9-461.06, the City of Maricopa will hold two public hearings with the Maricopa Planning and Zoning Commission and a public hearing with the Maricopa City council to consider the proposal of the City’s General Plan Update.
