Overpass & City Hall Statue Lighting

The City of Maricopa lights the colored fixtures beneath the John Wayne Parkway overpass and the pecan tree statue in front of Maricopa City Hall in recognition of community initiatives and various holidays.

The overpass is located along John Wayne Parkway at Honeycutt Road, and Maricopa City Hall is located at 39700 W Civic Center Plaza.

See below for information on how to submit a City of Maricopa lighting application and a schedule of upcoming lightings.

City of Maricopa Lighting Application

Submitting a Lighting Application

Throughout the year, the City of Maricopa illuminates the John Wayne Parkway overpass and the pecan tree statue at City Hall to celebrate holidays, recognize special occasions, and commemorate events of community significance. When available, the City also welcomes requests from eligible nonprofit organizations to light these landmarks in support of initiatives that promote community awareness or recognize causes that positively impact the community.

Because these landmarks are used for official City observances, all City-designated lighting events take precedence over public requests. Approval of a lighting request is subject to availability and must not conflict with the City's lighting schedule.

If your nonprofit organization is interested in requesting a lighting display, please review the eligibility criteria and application requirements below.

All requests must be submitted at least 14 business days before the requested lighting date using the official application. Requests submitted by email, social media, or any method other than the formal application will not be considered.
