The House Transportation Committee approved Bill 2068 that would offer funding for an overpass on State Route 347 and Riggs Road in their meeting yesterday afternoon. The vote was approved by all members present at the time of the meeting. The bill still has to be passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Ducey in order to move forward.

"This is a crucial first step over a big hurdle," Mayor Price said. "There are still a lot more hurdles left and we'll be asking our wonderful community for their continued support."

Over 40,000 commuters travel daily over the near 30 mile stretch of road. If approved, this overpass would greatly alleviate some major traffic congestion for the community that commutes outside of Maricopa for work. The city is poised to grow tremendously over the next two decades and this measure is greatly significant for all current and future residents.
