Copper Sky hosted a Lunch and Learn events for Seniors last Saturday featuring City Manager Rick Horst. The event was titled "Possibilities" and featured a number of topics of discussion focused on the great potential the city of Maricopa holds. Some of these ideas and plans include the Keep Maricopa Beautiful campaign, re-imagining Copper Sky and highlighting the new hotel with additional senior living options, restaurants, and shopping.

The Heritage District was also discussed as it presents unique possibilities includingdistrict mobility & access, shopping, living with a rustic feel and a public market.

One major point of interest was discussing a new civic center called the Maricopa Town Center. This would be imagined as an enduring, walkable, and integrated open-air, multiuse development that is organized around a clearly identifiable and energized public realm where citizens can gather and strengthen their community bonds. It will be anchored by retail, dining, and leisure uses, as well as by vertical or horizontal residential uses.

Ongoing projects that are currently nearing completion include the new Community Center which is currently being constructed at the old public library building as well as all ten horses for the recent Wild Horses Public Art Project will finalize installation this week.

Finally, the City Manager addressed the rumor of a potential water park opening in the near future. The project is currently titled "PHX Surf Maricopa" and will includewave pools, waterslides , lazy river, spa and concert stage as a few of the new exciting amenities that will be included.
