Mayor Smith, Vice Mayor Vitiello and distinguished guests were on hand to break ground on the new Lake View Park earlier this morning. This new addition joins Copper Sky and Pacana in the City's growing list of recreational parks and marks the first community park on the northeast side of town.

"The community that comes together and has a place to share is what I think about when we open a new park," said Mayor Smith during the ceremony.

Lake View will feature two regulation little league baseball fields and a parking lot in the project's initial phase. Later phase's are currently under development and review that may expand by adding additional baseball fields or include new features and amenities.

A group of nine people wearing hard hats and holding shovels participate in a groundbreaking ceremony at a construction site with machinery in the background.

"This project has been a vision of City Council since May of 2021," Deputy City Manager Benjamin Bitter recounted. "Lake View Park will be a source of pride, not just for the local neighborhood, but for the entire community."

The park will be located on the southwest corner of Powers Parkway and Placone Road in the Lakes at Rancho El Dorado subdivision (as seen on the map below).
