The City of Maricopa is pleased to announce the hiring of Angela Eastman as the City’s new Manager of the Office of Emergency Management and Public Safety Innovation, where she will lead efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness, disaster response coordination, and community resilience. Eastman brings more than two decades of experience in emergency management and large-scale event operations, along with a strong background in planning, training, and coordinating responses to major incidents. In her new role, she will oversee the City’s Office of Emergency Management and Public Safety Innovation, working closely with police, fire, and regional partners to enhance Maricopa’s readiness for emergencies and large-scale community events. Most recently, Eastman served as an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator with Washington County Public Health and Environment in Minnesota, where she supported emergency planning and response for a county of more than 250,000 residents. She previously held roles with Ramsey County Homeland Security and Emergency Management and supported operations for the City of Minneapolis Office of Emergency Management during Super Bowl LII. Throughout her career, Eastman has coordinated emergency planning and operational support for more than 2,500 major events, including nationally significant gatherings such as the 2008 Republican National Convention. Her experience includes coordinating disaster response operations, conducting emergency preparedness exercises, developing emergency response plans, and performing threat and hazard risk assessments. “I am honored to step into this role with the City of Maricopa,” Eastman said. “I look forward to building on the strong emergency preparedness framework that has already been established within the community. When my husband and I moved to Maricopa four years ago, the city’s commitment to public safety was a major reason we chose to make it our home. I am excited to contribute to that legacy by strengthening programs that encourage both community-wide resilience and individual preparedness.” Eastman is a Certified Emergency Manager and a POST-certified Psychological First Aid Trainer who has delivered training and presentations across the country. In addition to her professional experience, she is also a resident of Maricopa and has been actively volunteering with the City’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. City officials say Eastman’s combination of professional experience and personal investment in the community will help continue to strengthen Maricopa’s public safety partnerships and preparedness efforts. In her role, Eastman will focus on advancing emergency planning initiatives, coordinating multi-agency response strategies, supporting public safety innovation efforts, and expanding programs that help residents prepare for emergencies and disasters.
