Employee Spotlight - Ofc. Trina Clement

Published on March 24, 2021

Smiling police officer stands beside an open patrol car door, wearing tactical gear, conveying confidence and approachability. Sunny outdoor setting.

Ofc. Trina Clement began her career in law enforcement when she joined the Maricopa Police Department in May, of 2019, and she currently serves in our patrol division.  Trina is the mother of three children and hails from Kansas City, Missouri where prior to becoming a police officer, she earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Missouri (Mizzou!).

Trina prefers cake to pie, iPhone to Android, passenger to driver, and prefers books to movies.  Her favorite football team is the Kansas City Chiefs (obviously!)  Her hobbies include hiking, running, working-out, reading, and just being outside.

Two of Trina’s favorite restaurants are the Olive Garden and the Cracker Barrel (she couldn’t only list one).  Her favorite musical artist is Sia; her favorite ice cream is Ben and Jerry’s Coffee Carmel Fudge.  One of her favorite movies is Coming to America, and one of the best vacations she ever took was to Colorado, where Trina says the mountains and other scenery were phenomenal (she even petted a wild deer!).

Trina says her worst job was when she worked at a bank, in the asset management section, and dealt with trust accounts.  She said it was the most boring job she’s ever had and she resigned after six months.  Trina got into law enforcement because she had been in the legal field for 10 years and wanted a more active role.  Trina says she is passionate about community service and she loves being a police officer.

Trina’s definition of success is achieving something you have set your mind to and for which you’re really proud of.  She says her most rewarding career accomplishment is her graduation from the police academy, but one of Trina’s proudest accomplishments is her graduating college, against tremendously difficult odds.

At that time, Trina attended Mizzou full-time and worked part-time at McDonald’s, while being a loving and hard-working single-parent mom to her five month-old daughter.  Trina remembers those in her life at that time, who told her it was too difficult and that there was no way she could earn a college degree under those conditions, but Trina pushed through and didn’t give up!

Way to go, Trina!
