The City of Maricopa is making room for more play, more competition, and more community connection. This week, City Councilmembers and staff gathered to mark the beginning of construction on the new Field House at Copper Sky, a game-changing addition to the city’s recreation offerings. Set to transform the former police substation just south of the main Copper Sky entrance, the Field House project will turn 10,853 square feet of existing space into a 44,088-square-foot indoor sports destination. With 33,235 square feet of new construction, the Field House is being built to expand local recreation and the serve as the home of future tournaments, leagues, and even events. Inside the walls of the facility, residents can look forward to:
“When Copper Sky opened more than ten years ago, it was a major step in creating a sense of place for our residents. This new Field House builds on that foundation,” said Maricopa Mayor Nancy Smith. “We’re taking that same spirit and expanding it for an even larger group of Maricopans to enjoy.” While this week’s event was a quiet milestone, the real celebration will come when doors open and residents can step inside the new space. Construction is anticipated to be completed Late Summer 2026.
