Amber Liermann has officially been named Maricopa’s newest Vice Mayor. Her fellow councilmembers made the selection upon the recommendation of Vice Mayor Rich Vitiello at Tuesday night’s Council meeting. With this appointment, Liermann steps into a position of great honor for a term of one year, joining hands with other council members in steering the city's trajectory. “Amber Liermann's appointment as Vice Mayor embodies our city's spirit—dedication, service, and a profound commitment to our community's well-being,” Mayor Nancy Smith said. “Her passion for fostering unity and supporting our residents will undoubtedly shape a bright future for Maricopa.”
Serving hand in hand with the Mayor, the Vice Mayor is pivotal in representing the city and advocating for its needs. This is something Vitiello says Liermann has done since the first day she moved to Maricopa in 2004. “This woman has been through a lot, but she has done her job, not only for us but for our children and our schools. She has been there for them, and she has been there for us,” Vitiello shared. “So, I am so proud and honored to have Amber Liermann serve as Vice Mayor next year.” In addition to her responsibilities now as Vice Mayor, Liermann has worked as a counselor at Maricopa High School for 19 years and volunteered with countless organizations across the city.
