Residents of the City of Maricopa are invited to take part in an important City Council meeting on May 19 starting at 6PM that will continue to shape the community’s future, with key discussions focused on long-term planning and financial priorities.

Updating the General Plan

One of the most significant items on the agenda is the continued discussion of the city’s General Plan update. This voter-approved document serves as a guide that outlines the City’s vision for growth, land use, transportation, and community development for the next 15 to 20 years.

May 19 will include a presentation to City Council on the topic and will be a discussion item only. No action will be taken; however, residents are encouraged to attend to learn about the proposed plan or provide input during the meeting’s public comment period. All the details on the plan can be found by visiting the official project website at www.maricopagp.com

Tentative Budget Approval

In addition, the City Council will discuss and take action on the city’s proposed budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The budget reflects the City’s strategic priorities and investments in public safety, infrastructure development, and community services.

As required by state law, this action by City Council will set the max spending cap for the fiscal year and lock in the direction for how those funds will be allocated. The budget will be formally adopted by City Council in June, finalizing the funding sources.

The proposed budget is available online for review at www.maricopa-az.gov/budget.

If you are unable to attend the May 19 meeting in person, watch online on Facebook or YouTube to stay informed.
