Maricopa Community Alert Network is Designed to Keep You Informed

In today's fast-paced world, staying informed is more critical than ever. When it comes to emergencies and community events in the City of Maricopa, we've got you covered with the Maricopa Community Alert Network, or MCAN for short.  

What is MCAN? 

The Maricopa Community Alert Network (MCAN) is a communication platform designed to ensure your safety and keep you in the loop about incidents and events in our community. Whether it's an emergency that demands immediate attention or a local event that you won't want to miss, MCAN delivers timely and accurate information right to your fingertips. 

For example, MCAN alerts have been sent in the past for large fires sending visible smoke across the city or unexpected road closures that may last an extended period of time.  

How Does MCAN Work? 

To make the most of MCAN, you’ll need to create an MCAN account, even if you were previously enrolled in Everbridge or Pinal County's system (PENS) with a Maricopa address. This ensures that your contact information is up-to-date and accurate, so you receive notifications tailored specifically to our community. 

Notifications can be sent via text message, phone, or email.

How MCAN Keeps You Informed About Events? 

MCAN is primarily just for emergency communications; however, it's also a useful tool for staying in the know about large-scale community events. When you opt-in to receive event notifications, you'll be among the first to hear about key details that not only help you navigate through town, but also enhance your event experience. 

What Event Notifications Include? 

General Reminders: We know it can be tough to keep up to date with everything going on in our community. These strategic reminders will let you know when new event dates are announced so you don’t miss out on the fun. 

Traffic Alerts: We'll notify you about impactful traffic conditions around the event area, helping you plan your route and avoid delays.  

How to Opt-In for Event Notifications: 

MCAN will be in action during the upcoming Wild West Fest.  

Maricopa’s upcoming anniversary celebration is a chance to see exactly how MCAN works during events. To ensure you are only receiving the message you want to receive, Wild West Music Fest-specific messages will only be sent if you sign up.  

You can do that by texting “WWMF” to “65513”.  

This adds your contact information to our Wild West Music Fest distribution list – active only for this year’s event.
