Rich Vitiello was selected as the next Vice Mayor of the City of Maricopa replacing Vince Manfredi. Both the new and former Vice Mayors were sworn in last night along with Councilmember Henry Wade as they begin their new term of service on City Council.
"I want to thank the citizens of Maricopa for taking a chance on me. I will continue to work hard to serve the community as I have done in the past. I am always reminded that the community is my boss and that you can come to me anytime and let me know what we need to do. Thank you very much Maricopa," said Councilmember Henry Wade. "Being a member of this council is a 24/7 job. It takes a lot to do what we do here and we appreciate the community's continued support in electing us to take on that job," added Councilmember Manfredi. The last agenda item of the meeting was for City Council to select a Vice Mayor amongst the current members. The Vice Mayor serves this position for exactly one year and then another member of City Council is selected to fulfill that role. The former Vice Mayor Vince Manfredi nominated Rich Vitiello to be his replacement. "Councilmember Vitiello expressed interest in the role and said he was more than willing to take on the duties and responsibilities of Vice Mayor and we have nothing but confidence he will succeed," said Mayor Nancy Smith.
"I would like to thank the residents of Maricopa for having the faith in me for re-electing me for four more years to serving you," said Vice Mayor Vitiello. "I will continue to work hard for the city I love. I would also like to thank the Council and Mayor for having the confidence in me to serve as Vice Mayor. I’m honored and blessed."
The Vice Mayor and Councilmembers will serve their new terms from 2022 through 2026.
