Public Comment Period Open for Police Department Grant Awards

The Maricopa Police Department is inviting public comment on two grant awards from the U.S. Department of Justice through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program.

The 30-day public comment period opens October 22 and closes November 20, 2026. Residents are encouraged to review both grant award documents and submit comments before the deadline.

The two awards provide a combined $25,969 in federal funding to support the purchase of AXON AIR – SKYDIO R10 indoor drone equipment. The systems are intended to improve officer safety, support tactical decision-making, and provide real-time situational awareness during structure and confined-space incidents. The technology will help trained personnel assess potentially hazardous environments before officers enter.
