With approximately 652 lane miles of roadway throughout Maricopa, keeping streets in good condition is an ongoing effort. So, as the temps start to cool – creating the best conditions for laying down asphalt - the City will continue its pavement preservation program with work planned for key roadways, collector streets and residential areas across the community.
Funding for pavement preservation and other street improvements is included each year in the City's budget, allowing the City to take a proactive approach to maintaining its growing road network. By targeting streets on a rotating basis and addressing maintenance needs before they become larger problems, the City can help extend the life of its roadways and make the most of the community's investment.
Pavement preservation work is expected to get underway in the coming weeks, with crews targeting several areas throughout Maricopa.
Some of the areas planned for work this year include:
Honeycutt Road from John Wayne Parkway to Murphy Road
Alterra Parkway collector roads
Maricopa Meadows collector roads
Desert Cedars
Maintaining a growing road network requires more than waiting for streets to need major repairs. Pavement preservation allows the City to proactively evaluate road conditions and apply the appropriate treatment at the right time.
These efforts help protect the community's investment in its transportation infrastructure while keeping roads safer and smoother for the people who use them every day.
