Did you know this year marks 250 years since the declaration of independence was signed? And there are celebrations happening in many shapes and forms. The Maricopa Library & Cultural Center is inviting readers of all ages to turn the page on a new challenge with the launch of the AZ Read 250 Reading Challenge, running now through the end of June. This challenge encourages the entire community to read, explore new topics, and even win prizes along the way while making reading fun and rewarding. The AZ Read 250Challenge features a new theme each month, keeping things fresh and engaging for participants. Readers who complete monthly activities will earn entries into monthly prize drawings to add a little extra motivation when cracking open a good book. Each month offers a different reading focus:
February: All-Ages Literary Reading Bingo
March: Ages 0–12 read 25 books, while ages 13+ read 250 minutes
April: All-Ages U.S. History Reading Bingo
May: Ages 0–12 read 25 books, while ages 13+ read 250 minutes
June: All-Ages Arizona-Themed Reading Bingo
One of the most exciting aspects of the challenge is its seamless transition into the Summer Reading Program, making it easy for participants to keep their reading streak going straight into summer. Best of all, the AZ Read 250 Challenge is open to everyone as there no library card required to participate. Whether you’re a lifelong bookworm, a busy parent reading with kids, or someone looking to rediscover the joy of reading, there’s something for everyone in this challenge.
