CONSTRUCTION NOTICE

PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OVER UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD (MARICOPA RD - WEST OF JOHN WAYNE PARKWAY)

OVERVIEW

The City of Maricopa, in partnership with ADOT, will begin construction on the Pedestrian Bridge Project over the Union Pacific Railway near Maricopa Road (West of John Wayne Parkway) in the coming weeks.

This new pedestrian bridge will provide a safe and direct route between both sides of North Maricopa Road. The bridge will be fully ADA compliant, feature bicycle-friendly elevator access, and serve as acritical safety and mobility improvement for the community, especially for students and pedestrians who currently must make a half-mile detour through high-traffic areas.

This project is a key piece of the City’s broader Heritage District revitalization, which includes new multi-use paths, enhanced lighting, beautified streetscapes, and ongoing public safety improvements.

Partial funding for this project is being provided from Federal grants with matching funds provided by the City of Maricopa. For this reason, ADOT is overall facilitator of the project.

Schedule subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.
